“The idea for The Tide came about over coffee with Pete after a normal school run, we clicked over our passion for music, our families and life.
This song is a brand new version of a very special, personal piece of music I have had for a while. I played the original version to Pete, and we both agreed his song needed to be emotive yet have an uplifting euphoric edge to it, so I took it back to my home studio, rewrote and rerecorded it. The lyrics I had the bare bones of, but I wanted to get inside Pete’s head so I read all his blogs he has written since diagnosis.
I wanted this song to break your heart and then put it back together, which is what happened when I read Pete’s blogs. I want to do him and others in his position justice.
The Tide is that inevitability, the new life you find within when facing such a reality in yourself and with loved ones. I hope people get it, I hope they can hear the heartbreak and euphoria in it.
I hope it moves them to get involved to help save lives.”
